Breaking News Fort Stewart Lockdown Due to Active Shooter

Hinesville, GA – On August 6, 2025, an active shooter incident occurred at Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia. Five soldiers were shot in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. The soldiers received on-site treatment and were transported to Winn Army Community Hospital for further care.

Law enforcement was dispatched at 10:56 a.m., and the shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m. A lockdown was implemented at 11:04 a.m., with the main cantonment area lockdown lifted at 12:10 p.m. The 2nd ABCT complex remains locked down. Emergency medical personnel arrived at 11:09 a.m. EDT to treat the wounded.

There is no active threat to the community. The incident is under investigation, and no further information will be released until the investigation is complete.
