TEMPLE TERRACE, FL – On August 2, 2025, at approximately 1:20 AM, Temple Terrace Police officers conducted speed enforcement on East Fowler Avenue, east of Gillette Avenue. A red Kia sedan was observed traveling westbound at approximately 65 mph in a 50 mph zone.
Officers stopped the vehicle at East Fowler Avenue and North 60th Street. The driver, Scott Hazlett, was the registered owner. Signs of intoxication led to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), which Mr. Hazlett failed.
Mr. Hazlett was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol. A vehicle search prior to towing revealed plastic bags in the center console, one containing a substance that tested positive for cocaine. An employee identification badge linked to Leto High School was also found. Investigation confirmed Mr. Hazlett is the principal of Leto High School.
Mr. Hazlett was transported to Orient Road Jail and booked without incident.
