Lake Alfred, FL – March 18, 2025 – The Florida Highway Patrol has released details of a collision that occurred on SR-557 north of Old Lake Alfred Road. The incident involved two vehicles traveling southbound on the highway earlier today.
Vehicle 1, a Toyota Camry driven by a 48-year-old man from St. Cloud, was approaching traffic when the driver suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The Camry then collided with the rear of Vehicle 2, a Dodge Ram pickup, which was stopped in traffic ahead. The pickup was driven by a 50-year-old man from Winter Haven.
The driver of the Camry sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the Dodge Ram was uninjured, while a passenger in the pickup, a 27-year-old man from Winter Haven, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to an area hospital.
Authorities have clarified that, despite initial concerns, the crash was not fatal. The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
