Spring Hill, FL – On Sunday, June 22, 2025, at midnight, Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to a residential fire in the 3000 block of Greynolds Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a mattress burning in a child’s bedroom. The fire was extinguished quickly, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by a child playing with a lighter, which had been left on top of a refrigerator. Captain 4 and Battalion Chief 1 spoke with the parent about youth fire prevention measures following the incident.
