1 Min Read

Gibsonton, FL – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews swiftly responded to a residential structure fire on Friday afternoon, successfully containing the flames to the attic and preventing further damage.

At 4:57 PM, HCFR’s Emergency Dispatch Center began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and flames coming from the roof of a two-story home on Northern Lights Drive in Gibsonton. The first engine arrived on the scene
within minutes and encountered heavy fire venting through the roof.

Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and made entry into the home, where they aggressively attacked the blaze. Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of crews on scene, the fire was brought under control
within 20 minutes of the first unit’s arrival. The fire was confined to the attic, with no spread to the lower levels of the structure.

A thorough search of the residence confirmed that no occupants were inside at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

An investigation has determined that a lightning strike was the cause of the fire.
