The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office – Animal Services is excited to announce the launch of its new Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program, beginning Wednesday, June 18, 2025. This service will be available exclusively to Hernando County residents and will offer an important tool for managing and
reducing the feral cat population in our community.
TNVR services will be provided on Wednesdays only, with 10 available
appointments each week. Residents interested in scheduling an appointment must
do so in advance via the Signup Genius Link.
Important details about the TNVR program:
Appointments Required: This is a by-appointment-only service, and feral cats
will not be seen without an appointment.
Trap-Only Service: Feral cats will be accepted only when contained in a cat
trap. Cats in crates or carriers will not be accepted.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times:
o Drop-off between 8:00 – 8:15 a.m.
o Pick-up between 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Limitations:
o A maximum of two cats per Hernando County resident.
o All TNVR cats must enter and leave the shelter on the same day. The shelter
cannot hold feral cats beyond the hours immediately following surgery.
No-Shows: If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please
cancel your appointment to allow another resident to use the slot.
The TNVR program is a proactive approach to controlling the feral cat
population in Hernando County through humane methods. By providing feral cats
with essential neutering and vaccination services, this program will help
reduce the spread of diseases and prevent further overpopulation.
