HAINES CITY, FL – Three members of the Haines City Fire Department deployed to Florida’s Panhandle on Sunday, October 11, to assist communities recovering from Hurricane Isaias.
According to the Haines City Fire Department, the firefighters joined an engine strike team consisting of personnel from other local fire departments to provide mutual aid in Escambia County.
The Haines City personnel include one firefighter/paramedic, one driver engineer/paramedic, and one captain/EMT. The team will respond to emergency calls for service, allowing local firefighters to concentrate on hurricane recovery and relief operations.

The deployment comes as several Polk County emergency response agencies are sending personnel and resources to assist communities impacted by the hurricane.
On Saturday, October 10, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office deployed 46 deputies to Okaloosa County, accompanied by members of Polk County Fire Rescue and other county personnel. The deployment included emergency vehicles, equipment, mobile command centers, communications systems, bunk trailers, and a portable kitchen to support recovery operations.
Haines City Fire Chief Codi L. Donahoe emphasized the importance of assisting neighboring communities during emergencies.
“We’re proud to send out firefighters to assist communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Isaias. Today, we’re in a position to help others, but tomorrow, we could be the ones needing help. That’s what it’s all about, being there for each other,” Donahoe said.
According to the department, the duration of the deployment has not yet been determined. A second team could be deployed depending on the needs of the affected communities.
