TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida anglers will have more opportunities to catch Atlantic red snapper this fall after NOAA Fisheries approved an expanded 2026 recreational season.
The 14-day season will run continuously from Oct. 9 through Oct. 22 in Florida’s Atlantic state and federal waters. The season is open to private recreational anglers and for-hire operations.
Anglers will be limited to one red snapper per person per day with no minimum size limit. Private anglers and for-hire captains must also declare red snapper trips through the FWC Atlantic Red Snapper Reporting app and follow all licensing, permit and gear requirements.
FWC said data collected during the October season will be reviewed with NOAA Fisheries to determine whether a second season could be held in December.
