LAKELAND, FL — Florida’s 2026–27 duck hunting season begins Saturday, Sept. 19, and the City of Lakeland is reminding residents and visitors they may notice increased hunting activity around permitted hunting areas and waterways.
The first portion of the season runs Sept. 19–23 and is limited to teal and wood duck. The regular duck season will run Nov. 21–29 before reopening Dec. 12 and continuing through Jan. 31.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, waterfowl hunting is permitted on bodies of water with public access, including Lake Parker. An FWC spokesperson said four restricted hunting areas have been established since restrictions began in 1997.
The City of Lakeland is encouraging residents and visitors using lakes, waterways and surrounding areas to remain aware of hunting activity and use caution near permitted hunting areas.
Hunters are responsible for following all applicable FWC regulations, including licensing requirements, permitted hunting locations, season dates and bag limits.
