WINTER HAVEN ,FL — Drivers in Winter Haven will soon see another roundabout under construction after the Polk County Board of County Commissioners approved a $1,931,532.85 construction contract for intersection improvements at CR 540 (Cypress Gardens Road) and Lake Ned Road.
The project will replace the existing intersection with a modern roundabout designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and provide a better level of service for motorists. Construction will also include roadway improvements, drainage upgrades, new signage, pavement markings, and other related infrastructure.
The contract was awarded to Kamminga & Roodvoets, Inc. of Tampa after the company submitted the lowest responsive bid. Although CM Engineering Services Florida, PLLC of Kissimmee submitted a lower bid, it was deemed non-responsive. An additional $91,977 was added for allowance work, bringing the total contract amount to $1,931,532.85.

Construction is expected to take 210 days to complete, with an additional 31 days allocated for allowance work. The project will be funded through the Roads and Drainage Division’s five-year Capital Improvement Program within the Transportation Trust Fund.
