Combined, the three sheriff’s offices reported 49 DUI arrests while serving more than 2.57 million residents during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office accounted for about 76% of all DUI arrests, with 37 of the 49 total arrests. Meanwhile, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office issued the most traffic citations by a wide margin, with 280, compared with 28 in Hillsborough and 48 total citations in Osceola, although each agency reports citation data differently. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office also issued more citations (48) than traffic stops (43), indicating some traffic stops resulted in multiple citations.
The data highlights the extensive traffic enforcement efforts conducted across Central Florida during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
