DAVENPORT, FL – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting qualified men and women to serve as substitute school crossing guards for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, with immediate openings in the Four Corners area of Davenport.
Substitute crossing guards help ensure the safety of elementary school students walking to and from school at designated hazardous crossings. Those selected must be available to work one hour in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon on days they are scheduled.

The School Crossing Guard program is operated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and is funded by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. The program provides trained adult crossing guards at selected school crossings throughout the county to help protect students as they travel safely to and from school.
