Trapnell Road in Plant City Closing Nightly Through May 21

PLANT CITY, FL — Nightly road closures began Monday, May 18, on Trapnell Road east of State Road 39 in Plant City as crews continue roadway improvement work at the intersection.

According to Florida Department of Transportation, Trapnell Road east of SR 39 is closing nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, May 21, weather permitting.

During the closures, motorists are being detoured using Sparkman Road and Jap Tucker Road to access Trapnell Road east of SR 39. Officials said drivers should expect possible delays and congestion in the area while crews perform grinding operations on newly constructed concrete travel lanes at the intersection.

All travel lanes on SR 39 and Trapnell Road west of the intersection remain open during this phase of construction.

Message boards and traffic signage are in place to guide motorists through the detour route. Drivers are urged to slow down, remain alert, and use caution while traveling through the work zone.

The project involves replacing the asphalt pavement at the intersection of SR 39 and Trapnell Road with a concrete surface in Hillsborough County.
