Two Arrested in Dundee After Reckless Chase and Crash into Polk County Sheriff’s Patrol Vehicle

DUNDEE, FL – March 31, 2026 — Two individuals were arrested Monday night following a pursuit and crash involving a Florida Highway Patrol trooper and a marked patrol vehicle in Polk County, according to FHP.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 30, when a trooper was conducting speed enforcement during SOAR on U.S. 27 near U.S. 17/92. Authorities said a silver Hyundai Sonata was observed traveling south at 68 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

After making several turns within the city of Dundee, the trooper lost visual contact with the vehicle. The Hyundai continued driving recklessly and, while traveling eastbound on Frederick Avenue, ran a red light and struck a marked Polk County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle.

Troopers responded to the crash scene, where both occupants of the Hyundai were taken into custody with assistance from Polk aviation. Authorities identified the individuals as Jaden Terrian Horsey, 20, of Winter Haven, and Cory Tomaine Bowland, 23, of Kissimmee.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the crash investigation and will handle crash-related charges. The Florida Highway Patrol will pursue charges related to the pursuit. Authorities also reported that a large quantity of cannabis and a firearm were found inside the vehicle.
