Lakeland Implements School Zone Speed Enforcement Cameras

The City of Lakeland and the Lakeland Police Department are activating 14 speed enforcement cameras near eight school entrances as part of the Vision Zero Program.

Violations will be issued to drivers traveling more than 10 miles per hour over the posted school zone speed limit when flashing lights are active.

A warning period is in effect through January 2026. During this period, registered vehicle owners will receive mailed warning notices for recorded violations.

Enforcement will occur only when school zone flashing lights are active. Images of violating vehicles will be captured, and each potential violation will be reviewed by the Lakeland Police Department prior to issuing a notice.

Beginning February 2, 2026, citations of $100 will be issued for violations.

  • Lincoln Academy – 10th Street
  • Crystal Lake Elementary / Crystal Lake Middle School – N. Crystal Lake Drive and S. Crystal Lake Drive
