Kissimmee, FL – The City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Osceola County Environment and Public Lands, has introduced a new outdoor recreation service at Shingle Creek Regional Park: self-service kayak rentals, now available seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.
This new amenity is provided in partnership with Whenever Watersports and is designed to make kayaking more accessible and convenient for both residents and visitors. Using the kiosk located at Steffee Landing, users can scan a QR code, follow prompts in a mobile app, and unlock a kayak within minutes. A short video tutorial, “4 Easy Steps to Use Our Self-Service Kayaks,” is available to guide first-time users.
The system offers flexibility for outdoor enthusiasts and families looking to explore the scenic waters of Shingle Creek, widely considered the headwaters of the Everglades. Whether for eco-tourism, casual recreation, or a quiet paddle through nature, this new service offers a modern twist on one of Central Florida’s most iconic natural assets.
