LAKELAND, FL – Avelo Airlines is marking the fifth anniversary of its launch, commemorating five years of operations since its first flight on April 28, 2021. The airline began service at Lakeland International Airport in May 2024, expanding air service options for travelers in Polk County.
Since launching in 2021, Avelo has flown more than 9.3 million customers, including over 320,000 in Lakeland. The airline has operated more than 74,000 flights systemwide, with approximately 2,400 flights serving Lakeland. Its network has grown to 34 destinations and nearly 60 routes, including nine routes currently operating from Lakeland. Avelo also reports a workforce of more than 1,000 crewmembers, with over 130 based in Lakeland.
To mark the milestone, Avelo is offering a promotional discount of $50 off round-trip base fares using the code “5YEARS” for travel between May and November. The promotion applies to new bookings made through the airline’s website.
Avelo currently serves nine destinations from Lakeland, including Atlanta; Charlotte/Concord; Detroit; Grand Rapids; Nashville; New Haven; Philadelphia / Wilmington; Rochester; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The airline also held anniversary events at Lakeland International Airport, including ticket-voucher giveaways and customer activities.
