Highway Shooting on I-4 Leaves Two Vehicles Targeted, Suspects at Large
Tampa, FL — Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers are investigating a brazen shooting that occurred on Interstate 4 near US-301 early Sunday morning, May 11, at approximately 6:30 AM.
Authorities say a dark colored sedan targeted two vehicles in a violent incident that ended with a crash and a foot chase.

According to FHP, the suspect vehicle pulled alongside a Ford Edge and opened fire before moving behind a Chevy Tahoe, which exited onto US-301. The assailants then fired upon the Tahoe, which continued along US-301 until it collided with a utility pole near Franklin Road.
After the crash, the occupants of the Tahoe fled on foot, pursued by two masked individuals from the suspect vehicle. The Tahoe’s occupants managed to evade the gunmen, sustaining only minor injuries from the crash.

Evidence recovered at the scene indicates both vehicles were struck by .40 caliber bullets. Fortunately, no victims were wounded by the gunfire.
Details about the suspect vehicle and the assailants remain limited, and FHP is urging anyone with information to come forward. The public is encouraged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at FHP (347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify the suspects and determine a motive for the attack. Nothing further at this time.
