High-Speed Pursuit on Gandy Bridge Results in Crash, Arrest
Tampa, FL — A Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested a Tampa man following a high speed chase on the Gandy Bridge Sunday, May 4, which ended in a collision and vehicle fire, authorities confirmed.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., an FHP trooper conducting routine patrol observed a Toyota Supra traveling at 93 mph in a posted 55 mph speed zone. When the trooper initiated a traffic stop, the driver, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Ramnarine of Tampa, fled eastbound, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph. The trooper executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver at the eastern end of the bridge, causing the vehicle to veer onto the shoulder, strike a light pole, and catch fire.

Emergency responders transported Ramnarine, who faces charges of fleeing and eluding at high speed, and his passenger, a 32-year-old Tampa man, to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The incident prompted a temporary closure of the bridge’s eastbound lanes for investigation and debris removal. FHP is continuing to investigate. Nothing further at this time.
