Volusia County, FL – On July 13, 2025, at 1:00 AM, a fatal crash occurred on US-17 north of Spring Garden Avenue. A 2005 Ford F-250 was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway onto the east grass shoulder, striking a 21-year-old female pedestrian from Orange City, FL. The pedestrian was walking south at the time of the incident and was pronounced deceased on-scene.
Post-collision, the vehicle fled northbound on US-17. Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle, leading Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputies to locate it at the registered owner’s address. FHP troopers have taken the vehicle into evidence, noting damage consistent with the collision. The owner, a possible driver, is cooperating with investigators.
