According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, an 18-year-old suspect, Anthony Cabrera Morales, has been arrested following a shooting at Plantation Park in Carrollwood, Tampa. The incident took place just before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday when a fight broke out during a basketball game on the park’s court. Deputies responded to the scene, where two victims were found injured and rushed to the hospital. Tragically, 19-year-old Brian Jones did not survive his injuries.
Investigators interviewed witnesses, which led to the swift identification and arrest of Morales, who now faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the detectives for their diligent work, stating, “This arrest cannot undo the tragic loss of life, but I’m proud of our detective’s hard work in finding and arresting this individual quickly.” He added that the sheriff’s office remains committed to delivering justice and responding decisively to violence in the community.
