According to the Sanford Airport Police arrest report, the altercation began when the child called Crampton “fat” and “Miss Piggy,” commenting that she couldn’t fit in the airplane seat. Witnesses reported that Crampton responded by hitting the child with her fist, striking him on the head with a water bottle, and slamming his head into the airplane window. The child reportedly used his arms to shield himself during the attack.

Crampton admitted to police that she “smacked” the child after he pushed her arm off the armrest and was “very rude” and “disrespectful” during their trip. She also confiscated the child’s phone after the verbal insults. However, police determined her actions exceeded “typical disciplinary measures.” One witness stated, “The woman was not correcting the child; she was abusing him.”

The age of the child was not disclosed by airport officials, and the family declined to provide statements to police. The FBI has been notified of the incident. Nothing further at this time.
