Polk County, FL – Drivers along US 98 should prepare for periodic lane closures and flagging operations next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues two major road widening and realignment projects. The closures will affect two segments of US 98 from Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.

The first project impacts US 98 between CR 54 and Townsend Road. Motorists can expect periodic lane closures and flagging operations in half-mile sections during the specified hours. This work is part of FDOT’s efforts to widen and realign US 98 to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.

The second project affects US 98 between W Socrum Loop Road and CR 54. Similar to the first project, drivers should anticipate periodic lane closures and flagging operations in half-mile segments during the same time frame, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from June 2 to June 6.
