Small Homeless Camp Fire Extinguished Near Walmart in Bartow
Bartow, FL – According to the Bartow Fire Department, a fire started at a small homeless campsite in a heavily wooded area between the Walmart commercial complex and the Van Fleet Trail off Wilson Ave on Sunday.
The quarter acre site, littered with debris and perceived as an open campsite, had no structures or occupants present when firefighters arrived. Fire Department personnel extinguished the blaze after clearing vegetation and accessing the area via a power line easement with a brush truck. No injuries were reported. The scene was turned over to the City of Bartow Code Enforcement Division for further coordination with the property owner. Nothing further at this time.
