Auburndale, FL – The Auburndale Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on August 2, 2025, at approximately 12:41 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the Magnolia Avenue/McKean Street overpass.
The driver of a sedan, identified as Hobdy Leymone, 70 (B/M, DOB 10/06/1954), was traveling westbound when he lost control and collided on the overpass. Surveillance video shows Leymone attempting to drive the disabled sedan westbound after the initial collision. The vehicle came to a stop, blocking the inside westbound lane.
Approximately three minutes later, Michael Charles Markle, 43 (W/M, DOB 11/06/1981), riding a motorcycle in the inside westbound lane, collided with the disabled sedan. Markle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Multiple vehicles were present before and after the crash. The Auburndale Police Department is seeking witnesses or additional video evidence and asks anyone with information to contact them at 863-965-5555. The investigation is ongoing.
