Three Dead In Lakeland After SUV Loses Control on Interstate 4, Strikes Tree

Monday, September 22 – Lakeland, FL –On Sunday, September 21, at approximately 4:25 PM, a fatal crash occurred on Interstate 4. A Toyota SUV, driven by a 60-year-old man from Tampa, was traveling eastbound when it veered out of control onto the south shoulder, striking a tree. The vehicle then ascended an embankment toward State Road 570 (Polk Parkway), hit a guardrail, vaulted over the eastbound lanes, struck another tree, and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver and two female passengers, aged 83 and 60, all from Tampa, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A six-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The incident is under investigation.
