According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a tragic accident occurred early Sunday morning, April 13, 2025, on Interstate 75 south of State Road 52. At approximately 1:50 AM, a 30 year old Tampa man driving a Toyota Camry southbound attempted to overtake another vehicle. The driver took evasive action to avoid a collision, causing the Camry to lose control.
The vehicle veered onto the highway shoulder, rotated, and struck a tree. A 28 year old Tampa woman, a passenger in the Camry, and suffered fatal injuries upon impact.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Nothing further at this time.
