Tampa Police Seek Suspect in Assault of 82-Year-Old Woman

TAMPA, FL – MAY 5, 2026 – Tampa Police are working to identify a suspect involved in the robbery and assault of an 82-year-old woman. 

“This was a cowardly act of violence against an elderly member of our community,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “Our detectives are using all available resources to identify and apprehend the suspect. We are committed to maintaining the safety of our residents, and this criminal will be held accountable for his actions.”

On Friday, May 1, 2026, at approximately 7:45 PM, the victim was near a bus stop at W. Hillsborough Ave and N. Habana Ave. As she walked past the suspect, he grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground, causing her to lose consciousness. The suspect then took her bag and fled the scene on a bicycle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Thankfully, she has since been released and is continuing to recover.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a blue hat and a white t-shirt with the text “No Christ No Life” on the front.

Detectives are now asking the community to take a good look at this video to assist in the identification process.
