Tampa Police Investigate Bomb Threat

Tampa, FL. (June 11, 2025) – – The Tampa Police Department is currently investigating a bomb threat reported in the 200 block of N. Franklin St.

At approximately 2:20 pm, Tampa Police Officers responded after an anonymous caller made threats of an explosive device located outside the 1st Horizon Bank. Officers immediately arrived to search the area. In an abundance of caution, members of the Tampa Police Bomb Unit also responded to assist with the investigation.

While officers continue to work in the area and conduct interviews, there is currently no evidence to suggest this is an active threat to public safety.

“Making threats of explosives or any other dangerous device is a serious criminal offense,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “These types of calls are not only illegal, but also create disruption, waste valuable public resources, and cause unnecessary concern for our community. Those found responsible for making such threats will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

This remains an active investigation. Updates can be provided as they become available.
