Tampa Bomb Squad Clears Suspicious Package at Davenport Movie Theater

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update regarding the bomb threat that took place this afternoon at the Cinepolis movie theater at the Posner Park shopping center in Davenport.

The Emergency Communications Center received a phone call around 12:30 p.m. this afternoon (Sunday, March 15, 2026) during which the caller stated there was a bomb at the Cinepolis movie theater at the Posner Park shopping center in Davenport.

PCSO deputies and Polk County Fire Rescue responded and evacuated the building and surrounding areas.

During a search of the premises, deputies learned from theater employees that a package was received on Friday that had not yet been opened. Out of an abundance of caution, the Tampa P.D. bomb squad responded and X-rayed then opened the package. There was nothing incendiary inside of it, and at this point in time the box does not appear to be related to the bomb threat.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Nothing further at this time.
