OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL – Shortly after 3:15 Wednesday morning, a fatal crash involving three tractor-trailers occurred on Florida’s Turnpike southbound at mile marker 248 in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
A 2018 semi-tractor with double trailer traveling southbound in the outside lane struck the rear of a 2013 Volvo semi-tractor trailer that was slowing for traffic ahead. The collision pushed the Volvo forward into the rear of a 2025 Freightliner semi-tractor with double trailer that was also slowing.
Following impact, the 2018 semi-tractor became engulfed in flames. Its driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver of the 2013 Volvo, a 38-year-old man from Orlando, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the 2025 Freightliner was not injured and remained at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Nothing further at this time.
