LAKELAND, FL — A commercial structure fire damaged the Battery USA building on South Combee Road in Lakeland on Sunday morning.
According to Polk County Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched at approximately 10:30 a.m. and arrived on scene at 10:35 a.m., where they encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions coming from the business located at 1840 S. Combee Road.
Due to the amount of fire and smoke, a second alarm was requested, bringing additional firefighters to the scene. Crews worked to contain the blaze, and the fire was extinguished at approximately 11:19 a.m.
Officials said the business was closed at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control while South Combee Road was temporarily closed in both directions during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Polk County Fire Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office.
