BARTOW, FL – Nineteen lucky homes have been selected to receive a fresh coat of paint as part of the Bartow Community Redevelopment Agency’s first-ever Paint Your Heart Out Bartow initiative, a community revitalization project aimed at enhancing neighborhoods within the city’s CRA district.
The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, with volunteers painting 19 homes and one commercial property. The initiative is supported by the North Lakeland Home Depot and Behr Paint and relies on volunteer painters, including city staff, church groups, and other community organizations.
Volunteers are needed for the project. Participants must be at least 14 years old, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Register by 5 p.m. on July 8 at cityofbartow.net/paintyourheart. T-shirts (while supplies last) and lunch will be provided.

The participating properties were selected following a neighborhood canvass and recommendations from a committee of community stakeholders. In addition to receiving a fresh coat of paint, each property will also receive smoke alarms and fire extinguishers installed by the Bartow Fire Department.
“The motivation behind ‘Paint Your Heart Out Bartow’ is community investing in community,” said Bartow CRA Director Howard Smith. “We are seeking to improve the appearance of neighborhoods within the CRA district by giving these homes a refresh.”
