The North Ridge Trail Extension PD&E Study proposes a 1.65-mile roadway and multi-use trail over I-4 to reduce congestion, improve safety on U.S. Highway 27, and enhance connectivity in the immediate area.
Polk County has scheduled public workshops for the project: in-person on Nov. 19, 2025, from 5–7 p.m. at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Northeast District, 1100 Dunson Road, Davenport; and online on Nov. 20 at 5 p.m.
The project links North Ridge Trail from Access Road (north of I-4) to FDC Grove Road (south of I-4). U.S. 27 has above-average crash rates and poor traffic flow.
Workshops will present project options and analyses. Comments are accepted in person, online, by email to RobertCollins@Polk-County.net, or mail to Polk County Roads and Drainage, 3000 Sheffield Road, Winter Haven, FL 33880. Deadline: Dec. 3, 2025.
