Man Fatally Shoots Two Dogs at School Bus Stop, No Charges Filed
Winter Haven, FL – April 15, 2025 — A man shot and killed two dogs at a school bus stop near Thornhill Hill Rd. and Garrett Ridge Ct. last Tuesday, prompting an investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have concluded their investigation, and no arrests have been made.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the man who fired the shots claimed the dogs chased him and his children as they exited a school bus, leading him to shoot in self-defense. An independent witness corroborated his account and told police that the dogs had been an ongoing issue in the neighborhood, frequently chasing parents and children.
The dogs’ owner, however, disputed these claims when they spoke with our reporter, insisting her dogs were not aggressive and posed no danger to anyone.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released further details, and the investigation is considered closed. Nothing further at this time.
