
At approximately 6:25 AM, the Pinellas Park Police Department responded to anaccident involving a truck and a pedestrian at the intersection of 66th St Nand 78th Ave N. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
Through investigation, it was learned a Nissan Titan truck was traveling northon 66th St N approaching 78th Ave N in the curb lane.
The Nissan truck wasdriven by Glenn Hogue. At the same time, Jeffrey Young was in a wheelchair crossing 66th St N in the crosswalk against the signal.
The truck struck Jeffrey Young while in the roadway. It was learned that the northbound and southbound 66th ST N lights were green at the time, and Jeffrey Young wascrossing against the signal.
Glenn Hogue remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The Pinellas Park Police Department reminds all pedestrians to use the crosswalks appropriately and wear reflective/high-visibility clothing whiletraversing intersections, especially in the early morning hours with limitedsunlight.
