Osceola County Expands Free College Program for Class of 2026

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL — Osceola County leaders announced Tuesday that the Osceola Prosper program will continue for a fifth consecutive year, extending benefits to the Class of 2026 and reaffirming the county’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and workforce training opportunities.

Osceola Prosper provides graduating seniors from Osceola County public, private, homeschool, and charter schools the opportunity to pursue higher education or technical training at no cost. Students can attend Valencia College or Osceola Technical College to earn an associate’s degree, obtain a certificate, or complete a trade program.

County officials stated the program has generated more than $80 million in economic impact. Since its inception, more than 10,550 students have enrolled, with over 1,400 earning associate’s degrees through Valencia College and nearly 1,800 completing certificate or trade programs through Osceola Technical College.

To mark the announcement, Osceola County Commissioners, School District of Osceola leaders, and Valencia College representatives visited Osceola, Celebration, and Gateway High Schools to share the news with students, educators, and staff.

Officials highlighted the program’s role in improving college access and workforce readiness. Data provided by the county shows Osceola’s college-going rate improved from 61st out of 67 counties in 2010 to third in the state by 2023.

The Osceola Board of County Commissioners has invested nearly $40 million into the program, contributing to an estimated $85.4 million in added income to the local economy and $17.4 million in benefits from increased tax revenue and public savings.

County leaders said the program remains a key initiative in strengthening economic mobility and developing a skilled workforce through partnerships with the School District of Osceola, Valencia College, Osceola Technical College, and community organizations.
