
Orlando Police Department Press Release:
The Orlando Police Department is releasing body camera video of an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 221 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL on March 1, 2025. At approximately 2:42 a.m., officers responded to 221 East Colonial Drive in reference to a suspicious person reported to be beating on a victim’s door while possibly armed with a gun.
Upon arrival at the studio workspace apartment, which was not intended for living purposes, officers met with the victim, located a few doors down. As officers proceeded down the hallway, they observed an open door.
The suspect emerged from the studio workspace apartment armed with an AR-15-style rifle. Officers gave commands for the suspect, identified as Nick Raymond Bingham (DOB: 12/06/1962) to show his hands. The suspect disobeyed and was subsequently shot. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The 62-year-old suspect had a non-violent criminal history from another state. The three officers involved were not injured and were placed on paid administrative leave. As with all officer-involved shootings, an independent review conducted by FDLE will be turned over to the State Attorney’s office. Additionally, the Orlando Police Department will conduct its own internal investigation. This is all the information we are able to release at this time.
