DADE CITY, FL – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a fatal collision occurred on CR-48 west of SW 75th Drive involving two vehicles. Vehicle 1, a Toyota Camry, driven by a 70-year-old Dade City man, was traveling eastbound. Vehicle 2, a tractor-trailer, driven by a 42-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was traveling westbound.
For unknown reasons, Vehicle 1 crossed into the westbound lane and collided nearly head-on with Vehicle 2. The driver of Vehicle 1 sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 37-year-old Dade City woman, a passenger in Vehicle 1, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of Vehicle 2 was not injured. The incident is under investigation.
