On June 23, 1925, the City of Auburndale, Florida, received its first fire engine, a 1925 American LaFrance. The engine was delivered by freight train, marking a significant development in the city’s fire protection capabilities.
The acquisition of the fire engine established the foundation for Auburndale’s fire department, which was formally organized later. The 1925 American LaFrance had a pumping capacity of 750 gallons per minute and was equipped with a chain-driven system, standard for fire engines of that era.
