Clearwater, Fl. — A accident occurred on U.S. 19 south of Seville Boulevard left an electric moped rider with life-threatening injuries Friday evening, according to Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue.
The incident, reported at 6:21 p.m., occurred in the southbound lanes when the moped struck a retaining wall on the west side of the overpass. The impact ejected the rider over the wall, causing them to fall onto the access road below.
Emergency crews transported the rider to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital as a trauma alert. Their condition remains critical. Authorities have closed one southbound lane of U.S. 19 and one lane of the access road to facilitate the ongoing investigation. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
