News Report: Tim Walz Linked to Suspect in Deadly Minnesota Shootings

The New York Post reports that Vance Luther Boelter, a former appointee of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, has been identified as the suspect in targeted shootings that killed former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, while seriously injuring State Sen.

John Hoffman and his wife in Champlin, Minnesota, on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The 57-year-old allegedly posed as a police officer during the attacks, fleeing after being briefly cornered at Hortman’s home.

Boelter, appointed to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board in 2019 and previously to the Workforce Development Council in 2016, had ties to conservative groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom, known for anti-LGBTQ and anti-abortion advocacy. Police found “No Kings” fliers, a manifesto, and a list of politicians in his vehicle, hinting at a politically motivated attack, consistent with a 23% rise in such incidents since 2020, per a 2023 National Consortium study.

As of 02:57 PM EDT, authorities are searching for Boelter, with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety advising against attending planned protests. The case raises concerns about political violence and official safety.
