Wildwood, FL — On August 23, 2025, at approximately 8:39 PM, a fatal crash occurred on County Road 222 west of Northeast 9th Street in Wildwood, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 71-year-old man from Wildwood was operating a lawn mower eastbound on CR-222 without lighting. A 36-year-old man from Ocala was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup truck eastbound on the same road.
The Dodge Dakota overtook and collided with the lawn mower. The lawn mower driver was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
