Lakeland Man Indicted on Two Counts of Sexual Battery and Four Counts of Lewd Molestation Involving Juveniles Across 17 Year Period

Lakeland, FL – Tuesday, May 20 – The Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida in Polk County has indicted Kelvin Calloway Jr. on six counts of sexual battery and lewd molestation, with alleged offenses occurring over a 17 year period from 2007 to 2024. The indictment, formally filed on May 15, 2025.

The charges detail a series of allegations involving minors. Count 1 accuses Calloway of committing sexual battery on a child under 12 between August 1, 2007, and January 30, 2009, while he was under 18, violating Florida Statute 794.011 (Life Felony, Level 9).

Count 2 alleges a similar act between January 31, 2009, and October 26, 2013, after Calloway reached 18, elevating the charge to a capital felony under the same statute.


Counts 3, 4, and 6 charge Calloway with lewd molestation under Florida Statute 800.04, alleging that between January 31, 2009, and December 1, 2021, he, as an adult, intentionally touched a child under 12 in a lewd or lascivious manner or coerced the child into similar acts. These counts are classified as life felonies (Level 9) with a mandatory minimum of 25 years.

Count 4 specifies incidents between March 1, 2020, and March 31, 2020, while Count 6 covers September 16, 2021, to December 1, 2014. Count 5 alleges lewd molestation between March 1, 2024, and August 11, 2024, involving a child aged 12 to 15, a second-degree felony (Level 7).

The allegations span nearly two decades, with the most recent incident reported just months prior to the indictment. The Polk County grand jury has formally charged Calloway, and the case will proceed in circuit court. Victim identities are redacted in the filing to ensure privacy.
