Lakeland, FL – The City of Lakeland has announced that contractors will begin milling and resurfacing several collector streets on Monday, February 9, 2026, as part of the city’s roadway preventative maintenance program.
The projects involve removing approximately 1.5 inches of existing asphalt through milling and replacing it with 1.5 inches of new asphalt. This standard milling practice maintains consistent elevations for driveways and ADA ramps, avoiding adjustments due to pavement height changes.
Work will occur during daylight hours. Roads will reopen to through traffic at the end of each workday, but motorists should expect delays. Each road will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic around the equipment convoy. The city will distribute “Door Hanger” notices to residents before work begins on each street.
Scheduled streets and dates (subject to delays from weather or equipment issues):
- S. Lincoln Ave. from Ariana St. to Lake Hunter Dr.: February 9 – February 11
- S. Lincoln Ave. from W. Edgewood Dr. to Henderson Cir. W.: February 10 – February 12
- Eden Pkwy from W. Edgewood Dr. to Beacon Rd.: February 12 – February 16
- N. Kettles Ave. from W. 10th St. to W. Crawford St.: February 13 – February 18
- E. Parker St. from N. Florida Ave. to N. Massachusetts Ave.: February 17 – February 20
The project for Lake Hollingsworth Dr. from the roundabout to Palmola St. on the north side of the lake has been postponed due to an active wastewater project on the roadway. New dates will be announced once the wastewater work is complete.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible during the projects.
