Lake Wales Man Arrested After Hammer Incident in Lake Wales
Lake Wales, FL – According to the arrest affidavit, a domestic altercation in Lake Wales, FL, escalated on Sunday, March 9, 2025, when Daniel Gonzalez (DOB: 03/01/2007), 18, allegedly threatened a victim with a hammer.
The incident occurred around 8:45 AM in a Lake Wales residence following a verbal dispute involving multiple parties. Gonzalez reportedly threw a portable air conditioning unit across the room before retrieving a hammer and holding it over the victim’s head, causing fear of imminent harm. A witness intervened, pulling Gonzalez away and directing him back to his bedroom.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the arresting agency, deputies took Gonzalez into custody later that morning at 9:35 AM. Gonzalez faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from his alleged actions during the incident. The affidavit was filed with the Polk County Clerk of Court on March 10, 2025. The case remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
