LAKE ALFRED, FL — A Polk County jury has convicted Steven Macias of armed trafficking in amphetamine, armed trafficking in cocaine, and multiple related charges.
On the day of his arrest, a Lake Alfred police officer located Macias near Lynchburg Road and determined he had an outstanding warrant. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, Macias fled. Minutes later, officers observed him exiting a neighborhood while riding in the bed of a pickup truck and attempting to conceal himself under a duffel bag.
Inside the duffel bag, officers found a loaded firearm and large quantities of drugs. Macias had more than $3,500 in cash in his pocket.

Following the conviction, Macias was sentenced to 20 years in Florida State Prison.
