Lakeland, FL – On August 26, 2025, at 6:00 a.m., a federal agent was attacked by Denis Corea Miranda, a 21-year-old Nicaraguan national illegally present in the United States, during an attempted apprehension on Reynolds Road in Lakeland. The incident began when Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents pulled over a truck containing Miranda. He fled the scene and burglarized All Pro Distributing at 3225 Reynolds Road, where he attempted to hide.



Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to assist DHS agents. Miranda was apprehended at 7:05 a.m. and booked into the Polk County Jail. He faces the following charges, all enhanced by one degree due to his immigration status:
- Burglary – occupied (first-degree felony)
- Battery on a law enforcement officer (second-degree felony)
- Resisting arrest with violence (two counts, second-degree felony)
- Resisting arrest without violence (two counts, third-degree felony)
- False imprisonment (second-degree felony)
The incident concluded with Miranda’s arrest, and he remains in custody at the Polk County Jail pending further legal proceedings. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and DHS continue to coordinate on the case. Nothing further at this time.
