Georgia Speeders Caught Racing on I-4 at 120+ MPH, Vehicles Impounded
According to Florida Highway Patrol, three drivers from Georgia, aged 39, 37, and 34, were arrested early Saturday morning on April 5, 2025, for street racing on Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County, Florida.
The incident began at 12:45 a.m. when a trooper observed a Chevrolet Corvette speeding westbound at 97 mph near mile marker 22, closely followed by two Dodge Challengers. Moments later, all three vehicles briefly slowed to 80 mph before accelerating to over 120 mph in what troopers described as an apparent street race.
The drivers aggressively maneuvered through traffic, making multiple lane changes and illegally passing on the shoulder. After a brief pursuit, troopers successfully stopped the trio.

The Georgia natives were charged with racing on highways, now facing steeper penalties under Florida’s new ‘Super Speeder’ law, Senate Bill 1782, $2,500 fines, license suspensions, and 30 day impoundments for their Corvette and Challengers, reinforcing the state’s tough stance on extreme speeding. Nothing further at this time.
