Harrison School for the Arts in Lakeland, Florida, has announced its spring musical production of Water for Elephants.
The performances are scheduled for Friday, February 27, and Saturday, February 28, at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, March 1, at 2:00 p.m.
The musical is based on the bestselling novel by Sara Gruen. It tells the story of Jacob, a young man seeking to escape his past, who jumps aboard a moving train and joins a traveling circus. He is hired by the ringmaster, August, as caretaker for the animals. Jacob develops an attraction to the star performer, Marlena, who is married to August. The arrival of an elephant to save the struggling show brings Marlena and Jacob closer, ultimately changing the circus’s fate.
Tickets are priced at $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at harrisonarts.com/tickets.
